Standardization of sampling methods allows fisheries professionals to compare data across large spatial and temporal scales, encourages data sharing and improves communication. In light of these benefits, the American Fisheries Society published the first edition of Standard Methods for Sampling North American Freshwater Fishes in 2009, and a new edition was published Winter 2023-2024. We made the database easily accessible for fisheries professionals to visualize trends and compare their own data.
